After some time, I'm able to put up another HOWTO on how to POI-ify your smartphones Sygic GPS is presently available for the US for approximately US$24 (Euros 19.99) and as of version 11.2 (now out for some time) it will have the capability of using POIs (in Garmin CSV format) after conversion with a free tool. The actual Sygic converter is now out, so these instructions have been revised a bit. In the case of Sygic (much like iGO for WinMo) it does use its own format of POI, but-as it turns out-it is extremely easy to convert the stuff on POI Factory to use with Sygic GPS. I've based the following on a combination of info from a POI Factory thread on Sygic standalone GPSrs and the info on Sygic's website to do a unified HOWTO. Anyways, the HOWTO, a simple ballet of five steps: STEP 1: Download the POIs you want from POI Factory, along with any icon files-the good news is that Sygic is a LOT more forgiving of BMP format than most GPS programs, with its standard being a 100x100 size BMP that can use either 8-bit or 32-bit colour depth. (If it's below that size, Sygic will resize it.) Don't sweat the format (whether it's CSV or GPX-you probably want to go with one of those formats).
We're going to feed them into ExtraPOIEditor at any rate.
It can also be used as a generic POI manager importing from RUPI,CSV,TXT,KML,GPX then modifying POIs on the online map, filtering them too, and finally exporting them to RUPI,TXT,CSV,KML,GPX files. Rupi Manager lets you import, export, convert Sygic Points of Interest (POIs) and manage them (list / add / remove) in the easy way. Actually there are no others known software that made this 'magic': exporting your POIs stored by Sygic navigator in its RUPI format.
Converting (import or export) your Sygic POI is valuable for backup, external editing or importing from/to another navigator program. New features in 2.20. Import a POI file, find the POI you need with search/sort functions and send that POI directly to Sygic. Note that those files are read using the 'Navigator Directory'.
You can modify this directory in the 'Settings' panel. This operation (modifying the Navigator dir.) should not be necessary because Rupi Manager scans your device searching for this special folder. In the case the automatic scan routine fails you can set manually the 'Navigator Directory'. This directory must point to the Sygic root folder, not in an inner Sygic folder. EG: /sdcard/Sygic. Note that in the Settings panel you found a menu button that automatically rescans your device for Sygic folder.
Use it in the case you change the Sygic root folder EG: between internal/external sd card. If you see the ' Navigator Directory: ' label with an exclamation mark please manually configure the path. Click on it and select the root of your Sygic installation folder. Eg /sdcard/Sygic Please do not choose an inner folder, use the main Sygic folder.
Now the exclamation mark near 'Navigator Directory: ' should be gone. If not please check that your Sygic installation folder has the following subfolders Sygic/Res Sygic/Maps Sygic/Maps/import Sygic/Maps/rupi ( not checked anymore in version 2.09.212 ). If you export a category that already exists on Sygic navigator then Rupi Manager, by default, will call it with ' -exp' suffix so the original category still persists. You can rename it in Sygic user POI management interface. If you are sure of what you're doing you can enable this option by clicking on it. The enabled condition will be marked in red in this case your exported category can overwrite the navigator category ( it will be exported without ' -exp' suffix like previous RupiManager versions does, so overwriting existing category ).

This notice will be removed when this restriction is resolved in a future Sygic app version.
When you don’t find a pre-made.upi/.rupi file online with the Places you wanted to add to Sygic, or you just prefer to make your own unique list of Places, this article will describe how to create a.rupi file yourself. You will first need to create an input file in either.txt or.csv format, and then use that in the POI Convertor program to turn it into a.rupi file which our app will be able to import. Please note: this is the most challenging guide on our help page. There are a lot of technical details, so importing self-created.rupi files into Sygic is an extra option intended for more advanced, tech-savvy users.
Creating input files for the convertor The input file is where you will fill out the information about the list of Places you are importing. For each Place, its parameters must be arranged in the following order: longitude latitude name address phone fax web email. The first 3 parameters are mandatory (longitude, latitude, name). It is not necessary to include the other parameters (address phone fax web email), but you need to leave an empty space for each parameter that you skip if you want to include just some of them. To create an input text file (with.txt extension). Create an empty.txt file.
In the first line of the text file, type “delimeter = ' without the quote marks (careful, not the capital letter “i”, but the symbol “ ” – vertical line). This specifies the symbol, which will be used to separate the various parameters of each Place. Enter all Places, one per line:. For each Place, its parameters must be arranged in the following order: longitude latitude name address phone fax web email. The first 3 parameters are mandatory (longitude, latitude, name). It is not necessary to include the other parameters (address phone fax web email), but you need to enter the vertical line for each parameter that you skip if you want to include just some of them. Lastly, save the file in one of the supported encoding formats (ASCII, UTF8 or UNICODE) Example file: To create an input table file (.csv file).
Open Microsoft Excel. In the first cell, write “delimiter=,” without the quote marks. In the same column, enter your Places, one per line.
Enter all parameters into the same cell, separated by the “,” comma sign. Do not put parameters into different cells in separate columns. For each Place, its parameters must be arranged in the following order: longitude, latitude, name, address, phone, fax, web, email. The first 3 parameters are mandatory (longitude, latitude, name). It is not necessary to include the other parameters (address, phone, fax, web, email), but you need to enter the comma sign for each parameter that you skip if you want to include just some of them. Save the file as type “CSV (comma delimited)” Example file: Converting the input files into the RUPI format.
Download the convertor from. Unzip the file.
Launch the RUPIConvertor.exe program. Click “Browse Files” in the bottom right, to browse your storage and located either the.txt or.csv file you created. Locate and select either the.txt or.csv file that you previously created. Click “Convert to RUPI”.

Make sure to enter the 'import' folder name in lowercase letters. Once the above is done, launch the Sygic GPS Navigation app. A message will pop-up to inform you that new files for import were detected. Tap on the import option and the app will start displaying the list of places from the.rupi file on the map.
